urban development - Carbon neutral? Carbon sink? Energy self-sufficiency?
Zero is a solution for urban development projects to set targets for sustainability. The service provides an overall picture of the impact of the targets on the climate, investment and life-cycle costs, and determines the means of achieving the targets.
With Zero's service process, it is possible to look at emissions from regional development considering emissions from energy use as well as emissions from pre-construction, building and infrastructure construction, and traffic. It is possible to look at the goals and solutions from the perspective of the entire area as well as individual plots. Zero's versatile user interface enables extensive scenario reviews, including various emission and cost scenarios. Through the user interface, all the necessary information is easily available for, among other things, stakeholder work and decision-making

CASE: District level energy strategy
We analysed over 280 different energy technology scenarios to find the best solutions that support carbon neutrality goals of new urban development.
Analysed energy Technology scenarios included:
- Hybrid heat pump systems
- Ground source heat pumps (area and block-level)
- Pellet, gas and electric boilers
- Deep boreholes (area and block-level)
- District heating
- Waste-water heat recovery
Comparing the scenarios, we identified a difference of over 50% in life-cycle costs and over 500% difference in carbon dioxide emissions.
